One was from Scott McLeod (@mcleod), and allowing students to be creators in the classroom, but another was Jennifer Wachter, an artist who spoke about the idea that we are all artists who create in some way, and then Alex King, who works in the field of creating/engineering solutions to our shortages of critical materials - whether that is creating a new compound or an alternative method. Anymore, I don't think you'll be successful if you aren't a creator in some respect. Thanks Steven, I'll check out the TED talk!Leslie Pralle Keehnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04704391589062902851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666727024041535975.post-6291966986448449762013-09-11T14:04:36.403-05:002013-09-11T14:04:36.403-05:00Dan Pink is another person to bring into these dis...Dan Pink is another person to bring into these discussions. He has a good TED Talk on his recent book on Motivation, and his ideas in "A Whole New Mind" carry many of these same themes about the shifting landscape of which skills will become more valuable – essentially the addition of right-brain creative skills to the left-brain analytical skills that have ruled the roost in recent decades.

Steven Slaughter
Rosslyn Academy
Nairobi, KenyaSteven Slaughterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11242769215895990788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666727024041535975.post-16758500046433835622013-08-29T22:15:25.989-05:002013-08-29T22:15:25.989-05:00That was a great story, Aaden. His main point is that all cultures have basic stories that have a universal theme. Christopher Vogeler has also written a book on how to use the hero's journey tale as a basic theme in movies (think Luke Skywalker in Star Wars).

This might be an interesting connection to make with this project. That is great. In addition, I see a few "no" statements, which may be even better. That may not be logical, but when someone disagrees, the emotion of that person brings out the intellectual defenses of those that agree. That is what creates passionate debate and discussion. As long as it is kept in an appropriate manner, these exchanges are the most valuable. 1. Do ...Leslie --

Thanks! Here are my questions:

1. Do "clues" have anything to do with actual history info or are they just to get students to the QR Code. For instance, if one is in the cafeteria, is the clue something like "a good place to eat..." or "this is the site of a famous debate (kitchen debate)?"

2. When you say "outline of notes," you mean that you are basically pointing them to a well-defined "active reading" process or you are asking them specific "study questions" or something, right? My original idea was to get them to find a site that was basically a document-based questions (primary source) and have them answer the 5W's with focus on "why significant."

3. I don't understand link between "number of the clue" and "number of the questions." Is this basically setting up a situation where students can choose to many "small number" sources or a few "big number" sources where the big numbers are "worth more" if we're making some sort of game out of this?

Feel free to e-mail answers to dgrissom@flinthill.org

Thanks,
NovemberGusAugustus Recentiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15274454511222387087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2666727024041535975.post-10598532167427625162012-02-10T20:43:36.626-06:002012-02-10T20:43:36.626-06:00I am continuously looking online for tips that can...I am continuously looking online for tips that can assist me.
